監督コメント

本日公開の『劇場版 Free!-Timeless Medley- 絆』で監督を務めました、アニメーションドゥウの河浪です。
思い起こせば「Ｆｒｅｅ！」シリーズの企画との付き合いは長く、
始まりはドゥウ主体の企画を、と言う事で制作した企業ＣＭの「水泳編」でした。
それから、ＴＶシリーズのアニメ化に向け具体的なアイディア出しなどでは、
かなり根っこの部分から関わらせて頂いたシリーズです。
今回、２本の映画を作るにあたり、改めて本編を見返しましたが、
当時のフィルムに刻印されています、それぞれのセクションの熱量を強く感じ、
「これは生半可な気持ちでは制作出来ないぞ」、と気が引き締まる思いがしました。
当時の気持ちに負けないよう、また数年前の企画をこの２０１７年にリブートする意味をしっかりと持たせるため、
誠心誠意制作に取り組ませて頂きました。
近年特に強く感じている事ですが、この仕事、アニメーション作りは一人では決して出来ません。
このスタッフ、このスタジオだからこそ出来るフィルムになっていると思います。
完成した今は感謝の気持ちしかありません。
映画をご覧下さった皆さまが、それぞれの大切な何かについて考えるきっかけにして頂ければ嬉しく思います。
また、この２本の映画は、元は１本のシリーズだったものを２つに分けたものになっています。
ですので「絆」と「約束」でワンセット、ひとつの作品の気持ちで制作しています。
２本制作して、見て頂いた方々には「見て良かった！」と、
そして実制作に携わったスタッフの皆さんには「参加して良かった」と思って頂けるよう引き続き努力して参ります。
改めて「Ｆｒｅｅ！」を宜しくお願い致します。

Director’s Comment

I am Kawanami Eisaku, belong to Animation Do Ltd., and I directed “Free! The Movie - Timeless Medley - the Bond”, which was released today.
I have been associated with “Free!” series project for many years and I remember that the start was a commercial film “Swimming” we made as the first original project for Animation Do.
Fortunately, since then, I have been able to take part in the basic part of the project, such as a brainstorming for generating concrete ideas for making a TV series animation.
I watched whole TV series, “Free!” and “Free! Eternal Summer”, again to make this movie, and I could feel the strong power and passion of all the staff of each section from them. So, I thought “I cannot make the movie on half-hearted attitude” with feeling tense very much.
In order to be grater spirits than those days and give sufficient meaning to the several years-old project by rebooting in 2017, I worked hard with my whole heart.
I think strongly that, especially in recent years, my work - making animation - can never be accomplished all alone.
I believe that this film could become one which only our staff and studio can make.
Having finished making it, I can't feel anything but gratitude, now.
If it could give you a chance of thinking about something important for you when you have finished watching it, I will be happy so much.
In addition to that, these two films are those two which were divided from originally one series.
So, when we were making these “the Bond” and “the Promise”, we were thinking that they are one pair - one title.
I will keep on putting all efforts for making movies so that you can think, “It was great to watch!” and our staff can think, “It was great to take part in!”
I hope that you will keep on enjoying and supporting "Free!".
Today, I feel very honored to have been able to release it smoothly.
